Flood Gaurd: Intelligent IoT-Based Flood Control
Abstract
Floods are among the most devastating natural disasters, causing significant loss of life, property damage, and economic disruption. Early detection and timely warnings are crucial to minimize their impact. This project presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-based early flood detection and alert system designed to monitor real-time environmental parameters and provide early warnings. The system integrates various sensors—such as water level sensors, rain gauges, and soil moisture sensors—connected to a microcontroller and cloud platform for continuous monitoring. Data collected from the sensors is analyzed to detect potential flood conditions. When critical thresholds are exceeded, the system automatically sends alerts through multiple communication channels, including SMS, mobile notifications, and sirens. This solution aims to enhance disaster preparedness, reduce response time, and ultimately save lives and infrastructure.
