Managing Waste in Internet of Things-Powered Smart Cities using Wireless Sensor Network

Akshay Surya

Abstract

Efficient waste collection is a necessary and most important service in the Smart Cities and towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country with a low cost. The use of emerging IOT (WSN) technology may lead to significant improvement in the waste management process. Using IOT Smart devices such as Smartphone sensors are embedded in the environment to monitor measures and collect ambient information. The Waste management involves not only the collection of the waste in the cities and towns but also the transport and proper disposal to the appropriate locations. The rst is IOT Sensors monitoring collected data including trash bins with geographical location as well as the bin’s surroundings. Other is using dynamic scheduling and routing of waste collection vehicles based on the appropriate information from the bins. The routing protocol provides an optimal route or path solution for waste collection from the lled bins in high density residential areas while minimizing the length of the trip and optimization of the route to manage the garbage truck ecofriently. So these elements will result in increasing the eciency of waste collection

Here IoT module is used to control and monitor the waste and the information will be sent to the particular organization. The mobile app shows the collection of waste and the particular date and arrival time of the vehicle or trucks.
