Students Perception of Video Conferencing as a Student Web Portal Feature

Abstract


The covid-19 pandemic increased the use of information technology solutions in teaching and learning especially at tertiary institutions. Institutional websites served as the reference location to access information and services related to virtual teaching during the covid-19 pandemic. The web portal had served as a governance tool for tertiary institutions especially for course registration and result checking in Nigeria. The learning and teaching during covid-19 used video conferencing solutions such as Meet and Zoom not integrated with the institutional web portal. An online survey was carried out amongst final year Computer Science students at University of Ibadan, Nigeria. This study sought to identify the perception of students on the incorporation of a video conferencing platform into the student web portal. The results indicated a positive preference (73%) for a video conferencing solution to be integrated into the web portal.
