Unemployment of Indian Youth
Abstract
This research paper examines the issue of unemployment among Indian youth, drawing on data from various sources, including the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) and research papers. While India experiences a demographic dividend with a large youth population, a significant portion of this population faces unemployment challenges. Factors like a mismatch between education and industry needs, lack of vocational training, and economic shifts contribute to this problem. The paper discusses these factors in detail and suggests policy recommendations to address the issue, focusing on improving education and skills training, promoting active labour market policies, and creating a more favourable macroeconomic environment.
