Mohammed Taha Rafi Farooqui, Mohammed Bamusa, Mohammed Aziz Khan

Abstract

Over the last few years, India has emerged as one of the world's fastest-growing startup ecosystems fueled by innovation, government initiatives such as Startup India, and greater access to finance and mentorship. The growth has been the primary catalyst in the country's economic growth, with effects on job creation, upskilling and reskilling, and digitization. This paper explores the growth of startups in India between 2019 and 2023 on two key indicators: the number of recognized startups by the government and employment opportunities in different states. The study made use of publicly available data on India's official open data platform, data.gov.in, to provide accurate and transparent information. Data preprocessing was carried out on Microsoft Excel, and interactive data visualizations were undertaken using Tableau. These tools enabled one to see temporal and spatial patterns in startup formation and employment generation. The study involves comprehensive data analysis to uncover trends and patterns using cleaned and structured datasets, enabling meaningful insights through visual exploration and interpretation into the dynamic nature of India's startup economy.
