An Adaptive Learning Path Optimization Algorithm for Personalized E-Learning

Praveenkumar Babu, M. Thangamani, Dr. Chandra Sekar P

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital education, there is a growing need for personalized e-learning experiences that cater to individual learners' unique needs and preferences. Traditional e-learning systems often fail to adapt to the dynamic requirements of learners, resulting in decreased engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. To address this challenge, we propose an Adaptive Learning Path Optimization Algorithm (ALPOA) designed to create personalized learning paths that dynamically adjust based on real-time learner data. The methodology involves integrating machine learning techniques, such as reinforcement learning and predictive analytics, to continuously analyze learner performance, preferences, and interactions. The algorithm adjusts the difficulty of course materials, recommends relevant resources, and predicts future learning outcomes, ensuring an optimized and personalized learning experience for each user. The results of our experiments conducted within a simulated e-learning environment demonstrate the effectiveness of ALPOA. Key findings include a 15% improvement in average test scores, a 25% reduction in course dropout rates, and a 20% increase in course completion rates compared to traditional e-learning systems. Additionally, learner engagement metrics showed a 30% increase in average session duration and a 40% increase in resource utilization. In conclusion, the ALPOA presents a significant advancement in personalized e-learning, offering a scalable solution that enhances learner satisfaction and academic performance. These results highlight the potential of adaptive algorithms to transform digital education by providing tailored learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of learner.
