Protecting Medical Records against Cybercrimes within Hajj Period by 3-layer Security

Abstract


This paper presents a 3-layersecurity system for protection of medical records to be used during Hajj multicultural periods. We discuss the threats to healthcare via cybercrimes, focusing on the time of Hajj season, empowering providers to embrace the electronic exchange of personal health information safely. The paper elaborates on the problem of leaking Hajj patients’ private information; as medical records could conceivably be a strategic threat to one’s life. In Hajj multicultural period, cybersecurity is becoming high in priority for healthcare systems. All governments consider this issue as the top serious problem that causes propagating security tragedy breaches. International health insurance requires to ensure the integrity and privacy of patient records and their sensitive medical data. Therefore, healthcare organizations are becoming a real target for cybercriminals, assuming the personal data as wealthy information to collect, use, and manipulate, making unlawful money from it. This work will focus on securing the Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) specialized for Hajj multicultural requirements. We will discuss some currently proposed systems for securing the EMRs, then, propose our new, simple to use, 3-layer system to deal with the Hajj EMRs securely. The proposed model is combining between hybrid cryptography and steganography to ensure security enhancing the functionalities of the system. The proposed system is verifying the identity of the user (patient or staff member) who requests the EMR and authenticates the confidentiality passing this 3-layers of security. The paper will compare these proposed systems showing interesting contributions opening the door for further improvements to come within this Hajj related services vital field.
