Abstract

In this study, the design and construction of an open-circuit sub-sonic wind tunnel have been conducted along with its performance test. The wind tunnel is designed using Computer Aided Design software, and construction has been carried out in a mechanical workshop. The design and construction of a wind tunnel are undertaken by utilizing local market resources while keeping costs as low as possible without sacrificing performance or functionality. Further, different airfoils have been used to measure pressure distribution across their surface using a multi-manometer and pitot-static tubes. The measured values are compared with readings from the wind tunnel AFI300s for the same airfoil. Performance parameters are calculated and presented graphically.
