Effect of Various Coating Materials on Different Cutting Tools - A Review

Abstract


Various kinds of steels are machined for the production of cutting tools (what is the meaning of this sentence).Cutting tool is used as an essential aid for metal removal process for the production of different components. In this paper, we study the effect of different coating materials like TiN, TiN/Al2O3, Al2O3 and TiC/Al2O3/TiN on cutting tool materials and it saysPhysical Vapour Deposition (PVD) is the good method as compared with Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD). Finally TiC/Al2O3/TiN coating will be preferredbecause it improves machining tool life, wear resistance, etc. significantly.
