Assessment and Evaluation of Environmental Safety Criteria for Engineered Nanomaterials
Abstract
Nanotechnology offers exciting possibilities for creating advanced materials with specialized properties. However, the potential environmental and health impacts of nanomaterials remain underexplored. The production, use, and disposal of engineered nanomaterials can lead to the release of nanoparticles into the air and water, posing risks that need thorough evaluation. This paper proposes a framework for assessing the environmental safety of engineered nanomaterials, outlining key components of the safety criteria and establishing a method for evaluating potential hazards.
