Applications of Finite Element Method in Biomedical Engineering: A Review

Pranjali R. Tete, Shubhangi P. Gurway

Abstract

It is almost impossible to conduct mechanical experiments on human body, so the integration of Finite Element Method in the field of Biomedical Engineering has vastly benefited the area of medical sciences. In a field like Biomedical Engineering where it would be difficult to conduct controlled experiments of physiological conditions, Finite Element Analysis is an ideal tool to gain dipper understanding of product requirements, thus allowing design & development of better medical equipment and devices and the analysis of structure of human anatomy. This paper presents the state of art of review on Finite Element Modeling applications in the area of Biomedical Engineering. The objective of this review is to provide comprehensive details about advanced application of FEM as an effective tool in the field of medical science during last few decades.
