USE OF BAGASSE ASH AS A BRICK MATERIAL

Izhar Ansari, Kasim Rasheed, Mohd. Akram, Muddsir Nazar, Mr. Deepak Yadav

Abstract

The growing demand for sustainable construction materials necessitates innovative alternatives to traditional clay bricks. This study explores the potential of sugarcane bagasse, an agricultural waste product, combined with stone dust, as a partial replacement material in brick manufacturing. Three different mix proportions of bagasse, cement, and stone dust were prepared and tested for compressive strength, water absorption, and thermal insulation properties. The results indicate that bagasse and stone dust bricks offer promising characteristics for non-load-bearing applications, promoting waste utilization and contributing to eco-friendly construction. This research highlights the importance of agricultural and industrial waste management, showcasing a sustainable pathway for the construction sector to minimize environmental degradation while maintaining structural performance.
