Application of Genetic Algorithm to solve Economic Load Dispatch problem of Power system

Abstract


Electrical power systems are basically designed and operated as per the variations in the demand of power. The modern electric power utilities mainly focuses on providing high-quality reliable power supply at the lowest possible cost to the consumers while operating to meet the limits and constraints imposed on the generating units. These constraints formulate the economic load dispatch (ELD) problem. In this paper Genetic algorithm has been implemented on IEEE 26 bus system that finds solutions to bring down the cost for generation operation as well as optimization of power systems for economic load dispatch.
