Casting Defects in Manufacturing: A Comprehensive Study

Sarfaraj M

Abstract

Casting is a widely used manufacturing process, but it is often plagued by defects that affect the quality and mechanical properties of cast components. This research paper explores various casting defects, their causes, effects, and potential solutions. A detailed literature review highlights past studies on defect mitigation, followed by an experimental analysis of real-world casting scenarios. The results and discussion present an evaluation of different defect occurrences, with recommendations for improved casting practices. Finally, the conclusion and future scope outline advancements needed for minimizing defects in casting industries.
