

Comparative Study of Performance of Arduino UNO, Raspberry Pi Pico and Node MCU (ESP8266) for Developing Real Time Remote and Proximity Control Device in Industry
Abstract
This report presents a detailed comparative study of three widely used microcontroller boards Arduino UNO, Raspberry Pi Pico, and NodeMCU (ESP8266) for the development of real-time remote and proximity control devices in industrial applications. With the increasing need for automation, safety, and efficiency in industries, choosing the right microcontroller is crucial for designing effective control systems.
The study evaluates the boards based on key factors such as processing power, memory, connectivity options, programming ease, cost, and suitability for real-time and remote control. While Arduino UNO is reliable and easy to use for basic tasks, it lacks built-in wireless features. Raspberry Pi Pico offers faster processing and multitasking capabilities but requires additional modules for connectivity. NodeMCU, with its built-in Wi-Fi and support for IoT applications, emerges as the most suitable choice for real-time remote-control systems.
The report concludes that NodeMCU (ESP8266) provides the best overall performance for industrial applications that demand real-time response, remote accessibility, and cost- efficiency.
