Abstract

Using industrial solid waste to make high-value products is a practical method of reducing pollution in the environment and generating significant economic gains. The methods of disposal of waste product & by-product are not free from environmental pollution and ecological imbalance. The by-product is formed when we are refining steel. Steel slag is the majorly by-product obtained, which is used to make steel slag permeable brick. The steel slag brick that was prepared is a new type of permeable brick for home construction &sidewalk construction and it also relieve greatly environmental pollution from steel slag because of steel slag utilization is high. India is the second largest country in producing steel which is 19 million tonnes. The utilization of steel slag is maximum used in cement production, Road making and in construction materials. The manufacturing of one tonne of steel generates about 200 kg of steel slag. In India, only 15% to 20% of steel slag is used throughout its production. In this study at last we get to know about the compressive strength and physical properties of steel slag brick which is used for making building. The properties of steel slag brick will be compared with the interlocking bricks & traditional brick.
