A Survey on Techniques for Enhancing Underpass Safety

Prof. Minal Khandare, Mohammed Adil Zaid, Mohammed Masi Uz Zama, Mohd Abdullah, Mustafijur Rahaman

Abstract

In response to the challenges posed by flooding in underpass environments during heavy rainfall, flood management can be effectively improved through the integration of tech- nological solutions. Leveraging IoT technology for continuous monitoring, sensor networks equipped with ultrasonic sensors gather critical data on water levels. Algorithms like YOLO are utilized for precise object detection, identifying potential hazards and obstacles within flood-prone areas. Complemented by communication technologies such as GSM and Wi-Fi for rapid data transmission, this approach enables timely insights, automated response capabilities, and effective coordination to enhance underpass safety during heavy rainfall events. This initiative emphasizes the importance of leveraging technology to optimize safety measures and resilience to extreme weather conditions in underpass environments.
