MediCo – A Medicine Informatics System
Abstract
The Medico project is an innovative web-based medicine informatics system aimed at democratizing access to medical knowledge among the public. Built upon the Flask web framework and employing HTML/CSS for frontend design and Python for backend functionality, the platform offers a diverse range of features including a chatbot interface, informational videos on medical equipment, a symptom checker, and a recommendation system. Developed through interdisciplinary collaboration with faculties from Daleview College of Pharmacy & Research Centre, Trivandrum, the project seeks to bridge the gap between medical expertise and public accessibility by empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health. This paper provides an overview of the Medico project, detailing its technical architecture, key features, methodology, results, future works, and implications for promoting health literacy and improving healthcare outcomes.
