

Systemic Literature Review on Safety & Risk Factors Associated with E-pharmacy Services in India: Recommendation for Use of E-pharmacy
Abstract
Background: Online pharmacies in India offer convenience and accessibility but face risks like counterfeit drugs, unverified prescriptions, and privacy issues. This review explores safety measures and risk factors to enhance service quality and trust in e-pharmacy operations. Objectives: The present scoping review was undertaken 1. To Identify safety and risk factors associated with the use of E-Pharmacy.2. Understand & interpret Safety & Risk Factors associated with the use of E-Pharmacy.3. To Give recommendations for safe use of E-Pharmacy. Methods: This review, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) guidelines, was evaluate e-pharmacy safety, risk factors, and challenges in India from January 1, 2014, to January 1, 2024, using data from PubMed and Google Scholar. Two researchers were conducted the literature search in August to October 2024, and a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses literature search (PRISMA) flowchart detailed the study selection process, ensuring a comprehensive analysis Results: E-pharmacies in India make healthcare more accessible and affordable with 24/7 services, discounts, and doorstep delivery, especially in rural areas. However, issues like fake medicines, data privacy risks, and weak regulations remain concerns. Strong rules and government support are needed to make e-pharmacies safer and more reliable. Conclusion: E-pharmacies can transform India’s healthcare system by bringing gaps in access, cost, and convenience. However, their success depends on proper regulatory mechanisms, consumer education and support of government and technology driven safeguards. With these measures, e-pharmacies can ensure equitable access to quality medicines, transforming healthcare delivery across the nation.
