REPURPOSED STATINS IN CANCER: INNOVATIONS, MECHANISMS, COMBINATION THERAPIES AND NANOTECHNOLOGY
Abstract
Cholesterol-lowering statin “re-purposed” combination therapies using nanotechnology are anticancer nanodrugs in cancer treatment and management. The concepts of cholesterol-lowering statins with possible anticancer potentials, pharmacological statins doses combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, cell cycle control, apoptosis, anticancer therapies against proliferation, inflammation, autophagy and metastasis, are exciting innovative areas.
