

“Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding Precautions of Tetanus Infection Among Mothers of Under-five children”
Abstract
Background: Studies on knowledge on tetanus infection among mothers of under five children after the effectiveness of structured teaching programme about the precautions of tetanus infection will help to protect the valuable life of the people in order to reduce the morbidity rate of tetanus infection.
Objective: Pre- and post-test results from a quasi-experimental sample of fifty randomly chosen moms were used to assess the impact of a structured education program on mothers of children under five's understanding of preventive measures against tetanus infection.
Methodology: A quasi-experimental design that was non-equivalent was employed for the investigation. 50 experimental groups were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. Then the pretest was conducted by using Structured Knowledge Questionnaire. Followed by, structured Teaching Program was administered only to the experimental group on the same day. After 7 days, post test was conducted by using the same structured knowledge questionnaire in the groups.
Results: The results reveals that the general information of tetanus infection regarding Precautions of Tetanus Infection at pretest level has a mean 2.62 with Standard deviation of 1.09 with mean percentage of 44.66%. This had a tremendous improvement after educating the population on Precautions of Tetanus Infection about General information regarding tetanus infection, at post test level has a mean 4.32 with Standard deviation of 0.76 with mean percentage improved to 72.33 %.
Conclusion: The study concluded that structured teaching program was found to be effective in improving the knowledge score on precautions of tetanus infection among mothers of under-five children in experimental group.
