SAGAR K G

Abstract

The deformation behaviour of solid state is a critical factor in determining the mechanical properties and overall performance of materials utilised in additive manufacturing procedures. Comprehending the manner in which materials undergo deformation under varying processing conditions is a crucial aspect of enhancing the manufacturing process and guaranteeing the excellence and dependability of additively manufactured constituents. The present study presents a comprehensive analysis of the deformation behaviour of materials in additive manufacturing, specifically in the solid state. The investigation centres on different forms of deformation, their distinctive features, and their influence on the properties of the materials. This study encompasses a range of topics including plastic deformation, strain hardening, recrystallization, grain growth, phase transformations, and texture development. The various forms of deformation are explicated in relation to their respective mechanisms, factors that exert an influence, and the resultant impact on the properties of the material. Furthermore, the present study examines the various applications, benefits, and drawbacks associated with each type of deformation behaviour. Additionally, this study emphasises the various materials utilised in additive manufacturing and their distinct deformation characteristics. The study culminates by delineating areas of research that require further exploration and underscoring the significance of additional inquiry to enhance our comprehension of solid-state deformation characteristics in additive manufacturing. The present overview offers a comprehensive foundation for researchers and engineers to improve the quality, reliability, and performance of additively manufactured components by means of optimised control of deformation behaviour. In this paper the author wants to describe on the Strain-stress-temperature correlation, Microstructure evolution during severe deformation, Mechanical joining during severe thermos-mechanical processing, mechanical properties of the solid-state joints and the future scope of the solid-state additive manufacturing in detailed.
