Abstract

Marble Sludge Powder (MSP) is an innovative composite material that will reduce the amount of material consumption in the concrete industry, which will result in cost savings. In conventional concrete, marble sludge powder is used as a sand replacement. This is because marble sludge powder is particularly successful at enhancing strength without compromising the qualities of the concrete either when it is fresh or after it has hardened. Marble sludge powder is used in place of some of the sand in a concrete mix in some applications. After curing for a period of 28 days, cubes, cylinders, and prisms are put through compressive, split tensile, and flexural strength tests respectively. Powders of marble sludge are mixed in at concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% respectively. A concentration of 1.5% polypropylene fibre is included in the making of concrete. After a period of 28 days, the concrete mixtures were tested to assess their flexural strength, compressive strength, and split tensile strength respectively. The findings of the trials indicate that the workability of fresh concrete is diminished when marble sludge powder and polypropylene fibre are included in the mix.
