Seismic Design of Circular Elevated Storage Reservoir by Optimizing H/D Ratio.

Abstract

Elevated water tanks are one of the most lifeline structures in earthquake prone regions. The elevated water tanks are built for direct distribution of water by gravity flow without pumping. They are critical elements in municipal water supply, fire fighting systems and in many industrial facilities for storage of water. Hence elevated water tanks must remain functional even after the earthquake. . In this paper seismic design of elevated circular water tank is carried out in accordance with IS: 1893-2002 in ETAB software by optimizing H/D ratio.
