Comparative Analysis of Power and Voltage Losses in the Existing 330kV and the Proposed Integrated 750kV Transmission Lines in Nigeria
Abstract
This research presents a comparative analysis of power and voltage losses in 330kV and 750kV transmission lines in Nigeria. Using load flow simulations with the NEPLAN software, obtained results indicate a significant reduction in both power and voltage losses. The total power loss in the existing 330kV grid network is 400.75MW + j1004.71Mvar and reduced to123.1826MW + j154.0511Mvar. The total voltage drop across all branches in the 330kV grid network is approximately 96.78% and was reduced to 27.09%. The findings indicate that the 750kV super grid enhances power evacuation efficiency, reducing overall transmission losses and improving voltage stability.
