Gas Leakage Detection System: Design and Implementation

Dr Jyoti Jain, Akansha .

Abstract

Gas leak detection is a crucial safety measure in both residential houses and industrial fields. The high reliance on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a primary source of energy in many urban centers, the necessity of a system like this is justified by the increasing cases of gas leakage. In commercialized environments, such leakages translate to serious health-related complications that need regular follow- up and control to ensure quality air. The developed proposed system has utilized the MQ-2 gas sensor for detection of methane (CH₄) and carbon monoxide (CO) levels, which is integrated with the alarm system and autonomous control through the Arduino microcontroller. In essence, such an approach will provide a solution to be more efficient in the detection of gas leakage at an early stage and be more proactive in responding to its minimization, thus reducing risks and increasing safety.
