Abstract

German measles, or rubella, is a virus that causes fever, lymphadenopathy, and maculopapular rash. Although it is a very contagious disease, most instances are minor and have no serious repercussions. Fetal malformation syndrome, commonly known as congenital rubella syndrome, can result from any illness that the mother contracts during the first trimester of pregnancy. This exercise describes how congenital rubella syndrome manifests and is treated, emphasizing the vital role that the interprofessional care team plays in providing treatment for patients who also have this illness.
