Abstract

Road infrastructure is crucial for safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation, but poorly maintained roads with potholes pose risks like accidents, vehicle damage, and delays. This project introduces an Arduino-based Pothole Detection Robot, an innovative solution to autonomously monitor road conditions and notify authorities for timely maintenance. Equipped with ultrasonic and IR sensors, it detects potholes, measures their depth, and identifies road humps, displaying real-time data on an LCD. Using a GSM900A module, it sends precise location details of hazards to authorities, enabling quick action. Powered by DC motors and an L298N motor driver, the robot navigates various terrains, offering a cost- effective alternative to manual inspections. Its scalable design supports future upgrades, such as GPS and machine learning, contributing to smarter urban infrastructure and improved road safety.
