Assessing Road Connectivity Indexes and Their Impact on Agricultural Logistics for National Food Security and Economic Growth in Africa

OGUNDIRAN AKINYEMI KAYODE, Aworemi J. R.

Abstract

Road connectivity plays a pivotal role in agricultural logistics, influencing the movement of goods, accessibility to markets, and overall efficiency in food supply chains. In Africa, where agriculture is the backbone of many economies, poor road networks often impede food security and economic growth. This paper examines road connectivity indexes and their impact on agricultural logistics in Africa, focusing on their implications for national food security and economic growth. Using regression and correlation analyses, this study evaluates the relationship between road network quality, agricultural productivity, and GDP growth. Findings suggest a significant positive impact of improved road connectivity on agricultural logistics, leading to enhanced food security and economic prosperity.
