CONFLICTS IN NIGERIA DEMOCRACY: A specific analysis upon ethno-religious crisis between (1999–2022)

Abstract


With the inception of democracy as a system of government in Nigeria, the nation has been experiencing and bedeviling with different form of violent conflicts which have manifested in her domestic politics while most of these conflicts constructed from the differences in religious and ethnic identity.  Although, Nigeria with diversity in nature with multi ethnic, religious, class, social-cultural and others  whereas, most of the nation’s with diversities utilizes it as a source of development and progress. The data shown that most of violent conflict experienced since an inception of democratic system in Nigeria were rooted from ill-distribution of limited available resources through ethnicity and religious influences. The articles unveils that ethno-religious remain the strong instrument of mobilization by Nigeria politician, therefore, this work unveil,  how the recursive and persistence of ethno-religion crisis has been the sources of under-developed of Nigeria state. The Elite theory applied in other to understand the scenario.  In order words, the study concluded that with the eradication of ethno-religion crisis in Nigeria system, the diversities nature of Nigeria state can also be utilizes and be a sources of progress, innovations and socio-development.
