FloatChat: AI-Powered Conversational Interface for ARGO Ocean Data Discovery and Visualization

Giripriyan S, S . Hemalatha, Nishakar T, Pandiyan S

Abstract

FloatChat is an AI-driven platform enabling natural language exploration of Indian Ocean ARGO float datasets, delivering automated scientific insights into temperature, salinity, and depth variations. It integrates Groq-accelerated LLaMA-3 models with Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines and vector embeddings using a cloud-native architecture with modern web interfaces. FloatChat supports anomaly detection, semantic search, and intelligent query routing, transforming complex oceanographic data into actionable intelligence. By democratizing marine data access for researchers, educators, and policymakers, the platform accelerates sustainable ocean study and climate research.
