Rakshitha R

Abstract

In the current trends, a lot of organizations are starting to go the hybrid work style where employees are allowed to divide their hours at work and home. Although such an arrangement offers comfort and in many cases increasing the productivity, it has presented a new challenge to the human resource professionals. There is a growing trend whereby employees are taking the so-called moonlighting jobs to supplement their main employment strictly referred to as the primary job. The trend is prone to arise like the form of low concentration, low performance, and in extreme cases increase attrition.

This paper examines the extent in which moonlighting has become common practice in hybrid workplaces and the IT companies in particular. It also investigates why the employees opt to moonlight, and how the HR departments are dealing with it. Based on the insights obtained with the help of data, the study will help the HR professional present realistic methods to retain workers in the way that keeps themselves fulfilled and committed without losing the flexibility that comes with the hybrid structure of work.
