Solar Based Two Wheels Load Lift
Abstract
The growing emphasis on environmentally friendly and energy-efficient machinery has spurred the development of innovative systems powered by renewable energy. This project presents the design and fabrication of a solar-powered two-wheeled load lifting device, aimed at decreasing reliance on traditional fuel sources and minimizing ecological impact. The system utilizes photovoltaic panels to capture solar energy, which is then stored in a battery and used to operate an electric motor. This motor drives a compact lifting mechanism mounted on a two-wheel chassis, offering a mobile and sustainable solution for handling lightweight materials in both rural and urban environments, especially where access to grid power is limited. The design highlights affordability, simplicity, and ease of maintenance, making it especially useful for farmers, small-scale storage facilities, and local enterprises.
The lifting system incorporates a solar charging unit that replenishes an onboard battery, which in turn powers the motor responsible for both movement and lifting functions. Emphasizing energy conservation, the use of lightweight components, and user-friendly operation, the system effectively integrates renewable energy technology to lower carbon emissions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This project validates the practicality of using solar energy for forklifts in addressing economic and environmental concerns within material handling operations.
A brushless DC (BLDC) motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, which is recharged using a solar array mounted on the frame, typically rated between 200W and 300W. A charge controller manages the power distribution between the photovoltaic panels and the battery, ensuring optimal charging and system protection. The mechanical framework employs a two- wheel differential drive system, balanced by a rear caster wheel for stability, allowing for efficient manoeuvring in confined spaces.
