Objectives, Etiology, Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, Diagnosis, Differential Diagnosis, Treatment and Prognosis of Salmonella
Abstract
Salmonellae are motile gram-negative bacilli that infect or colonize humans, creating a number of clinical infections along with different clinical features such as gastroenteritis, enteric fever, bacteremia, as well as a chronic carrier state. Salmonella typhi and paratyphi cause enteric fever, although other strains of the bacteria are considered nontyphoidal. The diagnosis and treatment of Salmonella infection are explained in this exercise, which also emphasizes the importance of the interprofessional team in the assessment and care of patients with this illness.
