Drinking Water Assessment at Nepal Engineering College
Abstract
Drinking safe and clean water is the fundamental and basic need of people all over the world. 20 to 50 liters of water is required for different human activities on daily basis. The requirement of clean water in adequate amount is more in public places like school, college, hospitals and offices. Here, in this report we the students of undergraduate level from Nepal Engineering College have made a small study on different samples of water which were obtained from four different sources within college premises which were the ground water and also studied on purified jar water. Here we have compared the ground water samples and purified jar water which we consume daily in our college with the international standard values set by WHO. The parameters we studied were PH, temperature, chlorine, Suspended solids, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness and dissolved oxygen. Here in this report we made a study on limited parameters which were possible in our college lab and found that most of the parameters within our studies of both ground water and purified jar water do not meet the level of standard of drinking water which has been fixed internationally
