Abstract

Evaluation of the quality of water includes tests on physical and chemical factors in order to get information about suitability of water and set standard for the intended purposes. As river water being open source of water contains a lot of impurities so that necessary treatments are to be done before use for daily household purposes. The basic requirements for water were analyzed to find out if the water were free from pathogenic organisms, containing low concentrations of compounds that are acutely toxic or that have serious long-term effects. The present study has shown the spatial variation in its water quality; however, temporal variation largely affects the quality of water. Thus it is preferred to do the analysis at the dry season when the flow of water in the river is very low. It will help to know the exact status of water quality of source and recommend the necessary remedial actions in case of high pollution. The water quality at mid and end point of the river is diminished due to wastes of poultry farm and mixing of drainages and agricultural waste in the river.
