Planning For Improvement of Potable Water Supply in Efon-Alaaye Ekiti, Ekiti State

Abstract

This project has extensively fashion out plan for portable water supply in Efon alaaye, Ekiti state. This project examined the demand and supply of potable water in Efon Alaaye Township, the existing facilities, boreholes tap water connection networks, and also, some of the problems responsible for inadequate facilities for water supply in Efon, including lack of fund, poor maintenance practices, inadequate network pipe for distribution, poor management of facilities just to mention few. The aim of this study was to make suggestion for planning for the improvement of potable water supply in Efon alaaye, Ekiti state. Objectives were set to examine the various source of water, quality of water supply and efforts made by the state water corporation on getting potable water to the final consumer. A total of 300 questionnaires were administered to the residents which were selected through random sampling within the study area. Secondary information such as volume of water supplied per day was supplied by the water corporation and other relevant authority. Based on the problems discovered in the study area, recommendations were made to solve the identified problems.
