Abstract

This paper presents a cost-effective and reliable IoT-based system for real-time monitoring of animal health, specifically designed for use in remote or rural environments. The system utilizes sensors to measure vital parameters such as body temperature and pulse rate, with a Raspberry Pi 3 functioning as the core controller. Instead of relying on cloud infrastructure, a SIM card module is integrated to transmit health updates via SMS directly to animal owners or caretakers, ensuring continuous monitoring even in areas with limited or no internet connectivity. The system was tested on livestock and demonstrated accurate and consistent performance in detecting abnormal health conditions. This solution offers significant advantages, including automated data collection, real-time tracking, and prompt remote notification, ultimately supporting timely intervention and improving animal well-being.
