Fake ID Detection System Using Fingerprint

Abstract


The research “Fake ID Detection System” describes how to protect people from identity theft by authenticating a person’s identity through his/her fingerprints. In various workplaces and organization, there is a usage of fake identity cards for the purpose of accessing unauthorised areas and this can lead to information loss or misuse. This problem shall be addressed through the unit of biometric fingerprint verification which is unique for every individual cannot be duplicated easily. The proposed system acquires the user's fingerprint through the use of a fingerprint scanner and matches it with the stored fingerprint data in a secured database. If the fingerprint corresponds to the registered record, then the system allows access and confirms identity as genuine. If the fingerprint does not correspond, then on scanning, ID is declared fake; access is denied. The system can be deployed in universities, offices, public sectors, private institution and mission hospitals among other to improve security and reduce fraud cases. This project applies a microcontroller based system which utilizes a Fingerprint sensor module, and database to store user information. This solution has higher accuracy, reliability and security as it is far much better compared to the use of ID cards in verification of a person. In conclusion Fake ID Detection System will guarantee secure authentication as well as assist in doing so efficiently in identity related crimes prevention.
