Abstract

The Pong game, a pioneer in the world of video gaming, is a simple yet engaging two- dimensional sports game that simulates table tennis. Created by Atari in the early 1970s, Pong is widely regarded as one of the first video games to gain mainstream popularity. Developing a Pong game using Java provides an excellent opportunity to delve into fundamental game development concepts while leveraging the capabilities of Java's versatile programming environment. The development process will involve designing and implementing the game logic, creating graphical assets for the user interface, and testing the game for functionality and usability. Throughout the project, emphasis will be placed on writing clean, modular, and well-documented code following object- oriented programming principles. Other concepts like multithreading are also implemented and understood, through this project. We also gained an insight about the many classes and methods that are already defined in Java, which are helpful in implementing graphics and the classes like draw and paint,  that help the user to create and work with graphics and objects of his choice.
