Enhancing Outcome-Based Education through CO-PO Mapping
Abstract
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) has emerged as a pivotal approach in contemporary educational systems, emphasizing the attainment of predefined learning outcomes by students. Central to the effectiveness of OBE is the alignment between Course Outcomes (COs) and Program Outcomes (POs), ensuring that curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods are all coherent and directed towards the overarching goals of the program. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for enhancing OBE through CO-PO mapping. Beginning with an exploration of the theoretical foundations of OBE, the paper delves into the significance of CO-PO mapping in curriculum development and accreditation processes. It then discusses various methodologies and tools for conducting CO-PO mapping effectively, addressing challenges and best practices.
