Cylinder Head Cover Machining Cycle Time Optimization

Abstract

It is necessary to construct the cylinder head to handle the greater combustion pressures in order to create a high performance, cost-effective engine. The current cylinder head design necessitates a lengthy manufacturing cycle. To lower the cost per head, solidification periods must be shortened without sacrificing casting performance. We therefore made the decision to try to shorten a cylinder head cover's cycle time by applying the knowledge we had learned in our course study together with some new information. To reach the goals of reducing the time for each machining operation, this research essentially works with some adjustments in tool combination and updating some parameters like speed, feed, etc.
