Health-Friendly Co-working Space Integrating AI and Panchabhuta: A Fusion of Tech and Nature

Abstract


This research combines the ancient Indian philosophy of Panchabhuta, which encompasses the five natural elements like earth, water, fire, air, and space, with modern artificial intelligence (AI) to reevaluate how co-working spaces can enhance individuals' health and well-being. Co-working spaces are highly regarded among freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote workers, as they offer flexibility and a sense of community. Many of these spaces still face challenges, including poor ventilation, inadequate natural light, noise, rigid layouts, and limited privacy, which can negatively impact users' physical comfort and mental well-being. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, literature reviews, and national and international case studies, to comprehend the effect of design on well-being. The results emphasise that elements such as modular spaces, daylight access, biophilic (nature-inspired) elements, ergonomic furniture, and practical layouts make a meaningful difference in enhancing comfort, focus, and emotional harmony. The study also examines how AI can further improve these environments by sustaining features such as predictive maintenance, personalised environment and lighting settings, intelligent space planning, and health pursuit. When AI is integrated with the essential wisdom of the Panchabhuta, the result is a co-working space that is both functionally adaptable and nurturing, yet sustainable. Aligned with the objectives of building sustainable and inclusive communities, as outlined in UN Sustainable Development Goals 9 and 11, this research demonstrates a forward-thinking model for fitter, more creative workspaces. It’s a priceless resource for designers, architects, and planners seeking to develop a truly human-centred co-working environment.
