An Analysis of Users' Preferences for Rural Road Development Projects: A Tangail District Case Study
Abstract
Such a framework for determining users' priorities in rural road building projects does not exist in Bangladesh. In order to demonstrate the importance of this problem, this study ranks the users' preferences for various kinds of rural road improvement projects. Users' priorities differ from rural areas' socioeconomic features. This variance means that not all upazilas receive the same priority evaluation, which is something that should be taken into account when developing rural roads. The involvement of users in rural road building projects is considered an essential component in other Asian nations such as India and Nepal. However, there are no comparable programs for involving users in the design, execution, and oversight of rural road improvement projects in Bangladesh. For this reason, the demand from users is rarely accurately evaluated in rural road building projects. This study investigates these concerns by evaluating the priorities of users that should be taken into account in order to maintain the development of rural roads and so enable them to make significant contributions to the rural economy.
