Publicity in the Recently Renovated Public Areas in the Dhaka South City Corporation Area

Kalpana shah

Abstract

Generally speaking, public space is intended to serve as an outdoor living room and a symbol of the community's dignity. It serves as the stage for the drama of convivial life to unfold. The competency of the renovated public spaces at Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has been investigated in this study. Recently, a project named "Jol Sabuje Dhaka" was launched, involving the renovation of multiple parks and playgrounds. Thus, the conditional modifications in those renovated public areas have been the main focus of this research. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how the rebuilt public spaces' accessibility and visitation patterns have affected the residents of the DSCC community. It's very unexpected that while public participation has increased, not all social categories have engaged, according to the results. Furthermore, entrance to the main territorial playfields is restricted for a specific amount of time each day. According to the study, making amenities available and granting the public access to them will improve public participation in the DSCC's parks and playgrounds. In actuality, community involvement and accessibility play a major role in how well public places function.
