Recent Trends in Plastics Waste Management

Dr. Kondekal Manjunatha

Abstract

Plastic waste has become one of the most significant environmental challenges due to the rapid growth in plastic production and consumption worldwide. Improper disposal of plastic materials results in environmental pollution, marine contamination, and threats to human health. Recent developments in plastic waste management focus on advanced recycling technologies, circular economy strategies, and sustainable material design. This paper reviews recent trends in plastic waste management, including mechanical recycling, chemical recycling, biological degradation, artificial intelligence-based waste sorting, and policy-driven waste management strategies. The study also highlights current research developments and future directions for sustainable plastic waste management systems.
