Abstract

Composites are promising as realistic substitutes to the metal alloys in several applications like marine, automobiles, sports goods, aerospace applications, etc. Jute and glass fiber as reinforcement, general purpose resin as matrix and coir pith, saw dust as fillers are used for the fabrication of composite plate. Corrugated structured glass fiber composite sheet, jute fiber sheet and glass jute hybrid composite sheets are prepared by hand layup technique. Two corrugated plates are binded together and flat face sheets are winded over it. Then resin is applied over it and allowed to cure. Thus the honey comb sandwich plate is fabricated. The prepared samples are tested in computerized universal testing machine with four point flexural fixture. Load vs. displacement curves are plotted and were recorded with digital camera. The failure pattern of the composites was analyzed and the results were compared.
