Understanding the Impact of Drugs on Muscle Spindle Disorders in Humans
Abstract
Dysfunction of muscle spindles can result in various disorders, impacting motor control as well as coordination. Drugs classified as muscle relaxants such as benzodiazepines and baclofen, directly target the central nervous system to decrease muscle tone. Opioid can interfere with the processing of sensory information, including signals from muscle spindles. Neuro muscular blocking drugs are used during surgical procedures to induce muscle relaxation. Strategies to mitigate drug_ induced muscle spindles dysfunction may include dose optimization, combination therapies and alternative pharmacological approaches. Finally it is concluded that the impact of drugs on muscle spindle disorders represents a complex interplay between pharmacology, neuro physiology and clinical medicine.
