Free & Trade Marketplace using PHP and Advance Web Technology

Shrutika Koli, P. M. Thakre

Abstract

The Free and Trade Marketplace is a web-based platform designed to facilitate the exchange of goods and services through both donation (free) and trade (barter or sale) mechanisms. The platform addresses economic and environmental concerns by promoting reuse, reducing waste, and encouraging community-driven sharing. Users can post items they wish to give away, trade, or sell, as well as browse listings posted by others. Core features include user authentication, item categorization, search and filter functionality, a Wishlist, messaging between users, and location-based services. The system is built using PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript, with a focus on usability, security, and scalability. This project contributes to the circular economy model and provides a sustainable alternative to traditional e-commerce by fostering a community-oriented approach to resource distribution. Future developments include the integration of mobile applications and AI-based matching algorithms to enhance user experience and platform efficiency.
