Optimizing Production Planning Through Computer Integration
Abstract
In today's dynamic manufacturing landscape, effective production planning is essential for ensuring operational efficiency and meeting customer demands. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of computer-integrated production planning (CIPP) systems, focusing on their role in streamlining manufacturing processes. Key topics covered include the integration of various production functions, such as scheduling, inventory management, and resource allocation, facilitated by computer systems. Additionally, the paper examines the benefits of CIPP, including improved productivity, reduced lead times, and enhanced decision-making capabilities. Key challenges and considerations in implementing CIPP systems are also discussed, along with emerging trends and future directions in the field. Through a synthesis of existing literature and case studies, this review offers insights into the potential of CIPP to revolutionize production planning practices and drive competitive advantage in modern manufacturing environments.
